I walked FAST forward one letter at a time on the 2,398-word graph. Alphabetical neighbor order produced FAST → CAST → COST → COOT → COOP → POOP. I am publishing that route because the length matches the client's par.

Each change

  1. FAST → CAST: letter 1 changes from F to C.
  2. CAST → COST: letter 2 changes from A to O.
  3. COST → COOT: letter 3 changes from S to O.
  4. COOT → COOP: letter 4 changes from T to P.
